Road safety within the housing societies must be given paramount importance as ignorance may lead to any mishap which may prove fatal for the most vulnerable ones. You must be aware about the fact that SPEED is the key factor for most of road accidents and trauma; therefore every society should maintain a speed level to reduce the risk of accidents within the housing society. Drivers who drive in the society area speedily and inappropriately may cause danger to the other road users. Children normally play in the society space for relaxing / physical activities and even seniors citizens take morning / evening walks on the road. Hence, these two age groups are on high risk of getting hit by the vehicles unintentionally. It is vital to follow speed limit and other road safety measures within the housing society.
Below are aspects which must be understood and followed as measures to avoid any mishap within society premises:
Speed limits: Setting a speed limit within the society and displaying it boldly at various prominent locations is very important as it creates a caution among the vehicle drivers. It should be made mandatory to the residents as well as visitors / guests to follow the mentioned speed limit.
Park vehicle in specified space: It is the prime responsibility of the vehicle owner to park his or her vehicle in allotted parking area. Vehicle owners must ensure that the vehicles especially 4-wheelers are not parked on the roads, in no case around the road turns. Certain parking space may be allocated for visitors so that they do not park in the passageways or allocated parking area of the society residents.
Drive on the right track: 2 wheeled riders must drive their vehicle on the driving path rather than finding shortcuts through footpath, passageway, garden area or any other restricted area.
Speed breaker within the society: Speed breakers are provided to control the speed at certain key locations within society. All motorists must slow down speed of their vehicles to avoid an mishap.
Speed during bad weather or near the children’s play area: In such circumstances / locations, vehicle speed must be lowered down to its minimum level. A little carelessness may result in fatal consequences
Clear line of sight: If riders have no clear line of sight at road turns (at road turns in front of Sapphire Tower 01, in our society), one must slow down and be ready to alter his/her position until one reestablish a clear line of sight on straight path of travel.
