As per sources, potholes related accidents had claimed about 3600 lives in India during the year 2017. Importance of the issue can be understood from the fact that such high count on said account had been taken into due cognizance by the apex court of India.
Below are photos of some potholes which all of us encounter sometimes while driving our vehicles on road.
I would like to draw your attention the importance of repairing of potholes and making good the roads.
You need to see the below case:
In 2015, a vegetable vendor had lost his 16-year-old son when he met with an accident because of a pothole on a road in Mumbai. Shattered by the death of his only son, the father took upon the onus to fill every pothole he could upon himself and has been continuing to do the same.
As per newsclip of year 2018, during past three years, he had filled up 555 potholes, and he wanted to continue doing so, as he did not want another life to be lost to a similar incident. “I have realised that the authorities work only when an accident like this happens. But my question is, why wait for something to happen?” he said.
Now, it is the authorities who must take call to repair all potholes, prioritizing it over all other road development works. They must take cognizance of the truth that a small delay for the said repair, may take a life of a person which inturn will lead to devastation to his/her family. Till then, as I have been practicing, YOU may drive your vehicle at lower speed during night hours, taking care of fellow road users, especially the two wheeled riders.
Seeking your kind cooperation to make it possible towards ZERO Accident….VM
Being Road Safety Propagator, I am putting my best efforts to do all possible to avert road accidents and will continue same ......towards zero accident.

You have raised a pertinent issue. The position gets aggravated during rainy season, when potholes and open manholes are not at all visible. If a single person can take initiative, why not the local administration?
Well said, Kaushal ji. Administration / Authorities need to do all required for making physically good the roads. Hope such works don’t need much funds. To recognise its importance and WILL to carry out such works have been lacking many times, so far.

Most welcome. Mumbai is example, where pothole menace is the annual feature during rainy season.

Potholes can definitely be dangerous. It’s unfortunate as it’s really the responsibility of the city and government to maintain.
