Planning is the first step, but final and ultimate part is its implementation. I have seen people deriving some sort of sadistic pleasure by parking wrongly. This has to be checked. Forceful implementation in the beginning is must to make it a habit.

We all of us, do many efforts for maintaining our homes, getting tastful food, recreational trips to far off places etc. Same sincerity & efforts must be there for safety of self & others, while on road. So, discipline driving including parking of our vehicles is prerequisite for the safety, while moving outside.
With this discipline comes in our daily routine and by following the same by all in our daily life society becomes discipline and strong. So we must follow such small things in daily routine.
